The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) carried out extensive inspections and training activities across the city on Monday to strengthen sanitation systems and improve performance for the Swachh Survekshan. Acting on the directions of the municipal commissioner Namami Bansal, a team comprising additional municipal commissioner Praveen Kumar, assistant municipal commissioner Rajveer Singh Chauhan and chief sanitation inspector Manish Dariyal conducted field inspections of key city roads. The officials verified the attendance of sanitation workers and assessed the quality of cleaning work during the visit.
Authorities issued on-the-spot warnings to sanitation staff and supervisors where lapses were found, directing them to improve performance and ensure there is no negligence in sanitation duties. The team also inspected the Mechanised Transfer Station (MTS) at Kargi, where the manager and supervisor were noted to be absent. The officials issued strict warnings and directed that operations at the facility be streamlined immediately to avoid disruptions in waste management.
Later, a detailed workshop on Swachh Survekshan was held at the integrated command and control centre (ICCC) hall of the civic body. The session was attended by sanitation inspectors, supervisors and other officials. They were briefed on the survey process, evaluation criteria and their roles and responsibilities.
