Military officers are natural leaders – Governor Singh

The Governor of Uttarakhand Lieutenant General ( Retd) Gurmit Singh (Retd) addressed the Defense Services officers undergoing training at the College of Defense Management, Secunderabad, Telangana on Thursday. In his address the governor said that the College of Defense Management is playing an important role in developing high management skills and leadership abilities among the officers of the Indian armed forces. He said that military officers need to be proficient in high level management skills and should have effective decision making abilities. Singh said that military officers are natural leaders and they should contribute constructively in nation building and serve the society even after retirement.
Governor Singh said that it is a matter of pride for him that the Sainyabhoomi of Uttarakhand is his Karma Bhoomi at present. “Rich in natural beauty, forest and water resources and honest, hardworking and high quality human resources, Uttarakhand state has its own identity in the country and the world. One person from every family of the state is in the defense of the country. This is an example not only for the country but for the world how the military traditions in Uttarakhand are passed on from generation to generation,’’ he said.
The Governor said that daughters are also being encouraged for military services in Uttarakhand now and hoped that in future more girls from the state would serve in the armed forces.
