The authorities have set a target of administering polio drops to 2,34,600 children in the 0–5 year age group in Dehradun district under the National Pulse Polio (NIDs) Campaign.
According to officials, these children will be administered polio drops at 1,505 booths under the campaign. In addition, 1,498 teams have been formed to conduct door-to-door visits to ensure no child is missed.
As part of the National Immunisation Programme, the Pulse Polio Campaign was inaugurated on Sunday at Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital (Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital).
Mission director Dr Sandeep Tiwari, Dehradun chief medical officer Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma, principal medical superintendent Dr Manu Jain, additional CMO of NHM Dr Nidhi Rawat, senior surgeon Dr RK Tamta, state immunisation officer Dr Kuldeep Martolia, district immunisation officer Dr Dinesh Chauhan and Dr Vikas Sharma from WHO were present on the occasion.
Officials said that on Booth Day on Sunday, 1,06,967 children received polio drops- achieving 45.52 per cent of the total target. In the last National Pulse Polio Campaign on Booth Day, March 3, 2024, the district recorded 38.09 per cent coverage. Compared to that, there has been a 7.43 per cent increase in coverage on Booth Day of the current round.
