Former councillor and history-sheeter Rakesh Kumar alias Tinka has been booked for allegedly taking jewellery worth around Rs 20 lakh from a jewellery shop on Rajpur Road without making payment. The Kotwali police registered a case against Tinka and started an investigation.
As per the complaint filed by Rajneesh Verma on Tuesday, Kumar purchased expensive jewellery from the showroom in July. He allegedly gave a cheque as payment and assured the jeweller that his bank account had enough money. However, the cheque was returned unpaid by the bank, Verma alleged in the complaint, adding that he had then informed Kumar about the bounced cheque and asked him to clear the payment, which he refused.
The Kotwali police station in-charge, K C Bhatt said that a case has been registered based on the complaint and further investigation is underway.
The latest case comes days after another complaint was registered against Kumar. Three days earlier, a case was filed against him for allegedly taking a gold chain Rs 4.85 lakh from a Jewellery shop in Araghar in a similar manner.
