OPD registration to start on every floor of GDMC Hospital from today

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun
To prioritise patient convenience, the principal of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital Dr Geeta Jain informed that OPD registration will be available on every floor of the hospital starting February 9. This decision comes in response to consistent feedback from patients. Jain stated that the current overcrowding on the ground floor results in unnecessary waiting time for patients. With the availability of registration facilities on each floor, ground-floor congestion will be significantly reduced, allowing for quicker and more accessible services.
Additionally, she informed that in the next phase of this initiative, billing counters will also be established in a phased manner, enabling patients to access all necessary services from registration to billing on the same floor. She has directed the medical superintendent, deputy medical superintendent and all heads of departments to operate OPD services at full capacity as soon as possible to minimise waiting times for registration.
Further, instructions have been issued to all faculty members working in the OPDs, emphasising the need to quickly identify emergency and serious patients to provide them with immediate medical attention. Senior citizens and patients requiring special care will also be prioritised, she directed. The principal also informed that surprise rounds will be conducted periodically to ensure the quality of OPD services. OPD units and departments that perform exceptionally well will be honoured and rewarded on the upcoming Doctors’ Day, observed on August 15 and also on January 26. This decision aims not only to enhance patient convenience but also to represent an important step toward making the hospital’s operations more systematic, sensitive and patient-centric, she said.
