Opposition denigrating Sanatan, indulging in negative politics against national interests: Bansal

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

Accusing the Congress of indulging in negative politics, the Bharatiya Janata Party has said that the opposition party is playing the politics of denigrating Sanatan culture and insulting the dead. Rajya Sabha member Naresh Bansal said that the Congress projects ‘Mohammed’ Deepak as a hero but does not meet the family threatened by him in Kotdwar. On the national level, its senior leader Rahul Gandhi hasn’t yet spoken about the Indian pilot who thwarted an alleged Fidayeen attempt by the co-pilot of an international flight.

Interacting with the media at the BJP State headquarters here on Monday, Bansal alleged that the words and actions of the opposition-especially the Congress-are very different. “Focusing just on opposing the Congress has stooped from insulting faith and Sanatan traditions to the departed souls. Congress leaders used derogatory words for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother and the former Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat. Those who claim to run a ‘Mohabbat Ki Dukan’ made cheap comments on chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami offer Tarpan during the Shraddh of his late father. In their efforts aimed at opposing Modi, they have crossed all limits to desegregate the Sanatan faith,” he said. Bansal further said that the manner in which the Congress spread a false narrative about casteism during its national president Mallikarjun Kharge’s Haldwani visit proves the cheap politics which the party indulges in.

Referring to the latest incident involving ‘Mohammed’ Deepak in Kotdwar, he said that while the Congress questions Sanatan traditions, it has remained silent on his arrest after he was found threatening a Hindu shopkeeper. He said that the Congress’ silence is questionable especially after the public interactions Deepak had with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi which were much publicised. “The despicable mentality of the Congress has been exposed yet again by the absence of any reaction of its leaders to the India captain thwarting a hijacking attempt to save the lives of 174 persons on a commercial flight. Congress leader flaunts a bag with a slogan supporting Palestine in parliament, Sonia Gandhi writes about what happens in Gaza and weeps after the Batla House encounter. They do this to appease a particular segment of society, which is detrimental to the nation’s democratic structure,” he said.
