PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

Gadarpur MLA and former cabinet minister Arvind Pandey has said that the letter being projected as written by him to complain about chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is fake and an attempt to taint his and the party’s image. Criticising the episode, the Bharatiya Janata Party has sought an apology from the Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal for attempting to spoil the party’s image.

Addressing the media here on Monday, Pandey said that the letter which went viral on social media was not written by him. He said that he had not written any such letter to the Prime Minister or anybody else. “What the PCC president said on the basis of this fake letter is a baseless lie. He attempted to tarnish my personal image and that of the BJP’s discipline. I am a disciplined soldier of the BJP and cannot indulge in such an action against the party under any circumstances. What the Congress is saying from a political perspective on this issue is false and highly objectionable. Further action will be taken as per the directions of the party leadership. I had a talk with the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt and presented my stance on this issue,” he said.

The MLA said that the letter was completely false and that he didn’t feel like reacting to it immediately, though spoiling the political atmosphere on the basis of lies and baseless allegations is unfortunate. Pandey said that the fake letter had been spread to seek political gains, adding that the Congress should seek an apology from the people of Uttarakhand.

BJP State general secretary Deepti Rawat said, “It is now clear that the Congress is attempting to defame the BJP using a fake letter. The Congress’ main intention is to divert public focus from the internal factionalism in the party,” she said.

DEHRADUN: The BJP will seek the opinion of legal experts and pursue legal action against the PCC president Ganesh Godiyal for the fake letter he had spread. The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the Congress had stooped to a very low level of politics in its hunger for power. “The PCC chief is patting his own back after spreading a fake letter. However, the repeated conspiracies of the Congress to spread disinformation is denting its own image. Godiyal is also denting the dignity of his position by heading the disinformation efforts of the Congress. We will seek the opinion of legal experts and soon take legal action against him,” Chauhan said.
