Pantnagar airport to be upgraded to international airport: CM

The Uttarakhand government has made a plan to develop Pantnagar airport into an international airport. An announcement in this regard was made by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami during a programme held at Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar on Wednesday. In the programme, the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of nine development projects worth Rs 33.36 crore. The projects include the newly constructed hi-tech Maharana Pratap Bus Station at Khatima, built by the District Development Authority at a cost of Rs 11.27 crore.
Dhami stated that work on Pantnagar airport will soon commence. He said that the Balaji Temple in Nanakmatta will undergo beautification, along with the Brahmadev Temple and Lohia Bridge in Khatima, as part of development efforts in the Nanakmatta assembly constituency. The CM also inaugurated drinking water tube wells, overhead tanks, and pipeline works constructed in wards seven and eight of the municipality at a cost of Rs 48.45 lakh.
He said that the inauguration of the hi-tech bus stand coincides with the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, marking a joyful moment for the entire region. The newly constructed bus stand is expected to improve the region’s transportation system and stimulate development by creating new opportunities for local trade, tourism and employment.
He said the State is achieving new milestones in development and prosperity. Improvements are being made in vital sectors such as roads, education, health and drinking water, extending from cities to remote mountain villages.
Dhami added that efforts are underway to set up an AIIMS satellite centre to provide excellent medical services to the region and to support the development of the Industrial Smart City in Khurpiya.
He said that the enactment of a strict anti-riot law to hold accountable those engaging in riot politics within the State. He stated that individuals responsible for riots will be required to compensate for the damages caused. In addition, the State government has decided to abolish the Madrasa Board.
CM highlighted that the State has implemented the country’s strictest anti-cheating law to ensure transparency in recruitment processes and to combat cheating syndicates. As a result, nearly 27,000 youth from the State have secured government jobs in the last four and a half years, setting a new record.
Member of Parliament Ajay Bhatt and former MLA Prem Singh Rana congratulated the residents of the area on the inauguration of the newly constructed bus stand.
