The State Public Works, Irrigation and Rural Development minister Satpal Maharaj met the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday and requested the big contracts of the two departments be divided into smaller packages.
He later stated that dividing large contracts into smaller packages would provide greater opportunities for local contractors and create new employment opportunities for a large number of local youth. He added that this arrangement would increase local participation in development projects, speed up implementation and boost regional economic activity.
He further said that Dhami had taken his suggestion seriously and assured positive action in this matter as per rules.
