Centre approves Rs 547 Cr for undergrounding electricity cables in Rishikesh

The electricity cables in the major markets and routes in Rishikesh will be made underground with a budget of Rs 547 crore provided by the central government

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving the budget for the ambitious project. 

The central government has sanctioned aforementioned budget for the detailed project report (DPR) for undergrounding of power cables in Rishikesh Kumbh area (Ganga Corridor) and for automating the power system (SCADA) in Rishikesh, Haridwar and Dehradun. The project aims to remove the web of wires from the crowded markets and will also make movement on the roads and markets easier.

CM Dhami said that the Uttarakhand government is constantly striving to modernize the power infrastructure in the State. He said that uUnderground cabling will make power supply more stable, provide protection from disruptions caused by disasters and adverse weather, reduce maintenance costs and also improve the aesthetics of the city.
