The senior superintendent of police, Udham Singh Nagar, Manikant Mishra issued an order imposing a complete ban on the operation of tempos and e-rickshaws at night-an initiative aimed at public safety, preventing road accidents and controlling suspicious activities at night. Mishra, however, clarified that drivers would only be able to drive at night under urgent circumstances with prior permission from the circle officer (CO) concerned. “Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found operating a tempo or e-rickshaw at night without permission,” he said, adding that intensive checking campaign would be conducted in the night hours.
He appealed to the people to cooperate with police in implementing this order issued in public interest.
