Suspected leopard attack: Villager’s mutilated body found

The body of Bhuvan Ram (45), a resident of Mangoli village in the Dhura Tok area of ​​the Lohaghat development block in Champawat district, who had been missing since Tuesday, was found in a nearby forest on Wednesday morning. Investigation by the forest department suggested that he had been killed in a leopard attack with large parts of the body found mutilated.

According to the deceased’s family members and neighbours, Ram left home on Tuesday evening but did not return. During a search, the family members found blood stains and torn clothes on the edge of the forest on Wednesday morning.  The Forest department was informed and a team led by the Ranger, Narayan Dutt Pandey conducted an intensive search operation. After about two and a half hours of searching, the deceased’s body was recovered from a forest area near Mongoli.

Pandey told the media that based on evidence found at the scene, it seemed to be a death in leopard attack. The inspector, Lohaghat police station, Ashok Kumar said that the body had been sent for a postmortem.
