Chief secretary Anand Bardhan has said that on lines of the PM Shri School, a scheme for modernisation of schools should be introduced in Uttarakhand. He said this while reviewing the PM Shri and Lakhpati Didi schemes at the secretariat on Friday.
He stated that under the PM Shri scheme, schools are provided with funds of Rs 40 lakh each for five years (a total of Rs 2 crore). This fund is used to set up smart classes, science laboratories, libraries, and sports facilities in the State. Directing the officers to implement a scheme similar to the PM Shri scheme in the State, the CS said that it will accelerate the saturation of all government schools in the State with smart classes, science laboratories and libraries. He also suggested that the scheme should start with cluster schools.
While reviewing the Lakhpati Didi scheme, the CS said that continuous capacity building programmes should be organised to make the scheme more effective. Maximum use of technology should be made to improve the quality of the products of self-help groups. He said that the Lakhpati Didi scheme should be continuously monitored. The CS added that a State level steering and monitoring committees should be constituted and their regular meetings should be held. He said that more focus should be given on providing a market to the products of self-help groups, e-commerce platforms and retail chains.
Principal secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, additional secretaries Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Meherban Singh Bisht, Jharna Kamthan and other senior officers attended the meeting.
