A tribute was paid to 33 forest personnel of Corbett Tiger Reserve who lost their lives while protecting forests and wildlife at a programme organised at the Dhangarhi campus on Friday to mark Martyrs’ Day. The forest officials and staff paid floral tributes to the deceased personnel and remembered their courage and dedication.

The programme was organised under the direction of Corbett Tiger Reserve director, Saket Badola, while the park warden Binder Pal led it. Speaking on the occasion, Pal said that the sacrifice of forest personnel who had lost their lives while protecting forests and wildlife would always remain a source of inspiration.

The forest ranger Lalit Arya said that so far, 33 forest personnel in Corbett had lost their lives in attacks by tigers, elephants and venomous snakes. “They put the protection of forests and wildlife above their own safety and made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their contribution and sacrifice would always be remembered,” he added.

A blood donation camp was also organised during the programme. Forest personnel donated blood as a tribute to their slain colleagues.
