U’kashi limps towards normalcy as disaster impact persists

Heavy rains, landslides and other factors have disrupted routine life in Uttarkashi while also increasing potential risk in many areas. The bridge at Syanachatti on the national highway to Yamunotri is suffering the impacts of landslide with locals expressing concern about its stability. Debris on both sides of the bridge have affected the flow of the river, adding to the concerns of travellers. The district administration has directed officials concerned to take necessary steps for the protection of the bridge.
The national highway to Gangotri is blocked by debris near Dabrani though it is open to traffic near Dharasu and Nalupani. The Yamunotri highway is blocked at various spots with the authorities working to clearn the debris and restore traffic movement.In the disaster-affected area of Harshil-Dharali, the district administration is working to restore normalcy. On the instructions of district magistrate Prashant Arya, ration and other essential items have been distributed among the people in Dharali.
