The State government has appointed the vice chancellor and registrar for the new sports university. Sports minister Rekha Arya stated that she has instructed officials to expedite the establishment of the university.
Arya also said that plans are underway for the foundation stone ceremony, which will take place on August 29, coinciding with the upcoming National Sports Day. The government has filled three key positions in the university- vice chancellor, registrar and finance controller. Temporarily, special principal secretatary (Sports) Amit Sinha will assume additional charge of vice chancellor, while Sports director Ashish Chauhan will assume additional charge as registrar.
Additionally, finance officer of the Sports Directorate VN Pandey will take on the responsibilities of the university finance controller. These interim appointments will remain in effect till permanent officials are appointed or for a maximum duration of one year. In addition to this, they are instructed to take up their designated posts immediately.
Arya stated that these ex-officio appointments were made to ensure the smooth functioning of all administrative tasks necessary for establishing the university. The Sports minister said that all three officials will initially oversee the university’s activities.
