While participating in the two-day Teej Mahotsav organised by the Tourism department of Rajasthan in Jaipur on Monday, the State Tourism and Culture minister, Satpal Maharaj said that this festival is deeply associated with Uttarakhand, too. “Teej signifies the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati and importantly, the wedding took place on this day at Triyuginarayan in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Therefore, women celebrate the festival of Teej to wish for their husband’s long life and marital happiness,” he added.

Notably, this festival is being celebrated every year in Rajasthan for the past 298 years and since Jaipur came into being, a Teej Mata procession is also being taken out.

Maharaj further mentioned the deep relationship between Uttarakhand and Rajasthan. “We will work by making a joint plan to increase tourism activities involving these two states,” he said.

The deputy chief minister and Tourism minister of Rajasthan, Diya Kumari along with many officials of Rajasthan Tourism department were present at the Teej Mahotsav programme.
