U’khand to create separate cadre of doctors for Char Dham Yatra

 In an important decision the Uttarakhand government has decided to create a separate cadre of doctors for the Char Dham Yatra.

 A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the Health department at the residence of Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat on Saturday. In the meeting, the minister directed the officers of the department to create a separate cadre of doctors to provide better health services to the Char Dham pilgrims. He said that the new cadre will also have posts of specialist doctors. A proposal in this regard will soon be brought before the State cabinet. 

Rawat said a separate study policy for the bonded medical officers of the department is being prepared. This will ensure that the health services of the State don’t get affected when these medical officers go on study leave for doing post-graduation (PG). The minister added that a reserve pool of 250 doctors will be prepared to fill the gap created by the doctors going for completing their PG. He said that proposals for creating a separate cadre for specialist doctors, restructuring of lab technicians and pharmacists and administration cadre will be brought before the State cabinet for its clearance.

Apart from this a proposal to create new posts in newly created and upgraded sub- district hospitals and community health centres will also be taken up in the State cabinet so that the local people get better health facilities. 

The minister also reviewed the income- expenditure of allotted budgets to the Health and Medical Education departments in the meeting and directed the officers to spend the allotted budget within the stipulated time period. In another important decision, the minister directed that the departmental promotion committee (DPC) of the medical officers of different categories should be completed before February 10 so that they get the benefit of the promotions.

 The meeting was attended by Health secretary Sachin Kurve, director general (DG) Health Dr Sunita Tamta, director medical education Dr AK Arya and other officers.
