A Women Sports College is coming up in Champawat at an estimated cost of Rs 256.96 crore, making it Uttarakhand’s third such institution after Dehradun and Pithoragarh. The special principal secretary for Sports and Youth Welfare, Amit Kumar Sinha inspected the construction site at Lohaghat on Saturday and directed the executing agency to complete the first phase of the project in 18 months.
In the first phase, the ground, hostel and administrative block will be built after which free coaching facilities will be launched. The college will provide free lodging, meals and training to enrolled players.
Reviewing the synthetic track, Sinha stressed that it must meet international standards.
