Special Pitru Paksha with rare lunar-solar eclipse alignment

The Pitru Paksha is starting from Bhadrapad Purnima on September 7 and coincidentally lunar eclipse is taking place on the first day of the fortnight during which tarpan is offered to the ancestors. Due the lunar eclipse, the doors of all the temples, including Char Dham, will be closed on Sunday afternoon. The temples will reopen in the morning on September 8.
According to veteran astrologers, the Pitru Paksha this time is going to be quite special. “After decades, such a rare celestial occurrence is happening when it will start with a lunar eclipse on September 7 and end with a solar eclipse on September 21,” one of them said.
