UPES, ONGC partner on AI innovation agenda

UPES and the Keshava Deva Malaviya Institute of Petroleum Exploration (KDMIPE), ONGC will jointly explore opportunities for long-term collaboration in AI-driven energy innovation and clean energy research and also to identify opportunities in multidisciplinary research and emerging energy technologies. Things were finalised during an interaction held between the seniors of both the institutions. The key areas included Natural Hydrogen, Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS), unconventional energy resources, and Artificial Intelligence-enabled solutions for energy exploration and production.
Organised under the leadership of the vice- chancellor, UPES, Dr. Sunil Rai,the interaction focused on strengthening industry–academia partnerships that can drive scientific advancement and support India’s transition towards a more sustainable energy future. Among those who representedKDMIPE, ONGC was the Executive Director and Chief of Institute (COI),Tarun Kumar Mathuria. He highlighted ONGC’s contributions to hydrocarbon exploration, its growing role in the clean energy transition and the increasing adoption of advanced technologies to drive innovation across the energy sector.
In his address, Rai said that the future of energy would be shaped by meaningful collaboration between academia and industry.
During the visit, the ONGC delegation toured UPES’ state-of-the-art facilities, including the Bajaj Engineering Skills and Training Centre (BEST), and reviewed ongoing research initiatives focused on advancing future energy technologies.
