Families clash over drainage of water in Haridwar village

With violent crimes becoming a feature of Haridwar, the latest case reportedly occurred on Monday night when a man was accused by his uncle of assault and molesting his aunt and cousin. According to officials, the matter escalated following disagreement over drainage of water from a drain.
A handicapped man submitted an application to the police stating that Ravi and Arjun, son on Bijendra, who live nearby, attempted to pull his daughter into their room. When the complainant’s wife intervened, they verbally abused her and assaulted her.Bijendra allegedly tore the woman and her daughter’s clothes while also molesting them. The complainant further alleged that the accused had also issued death threats.
According to sources, the complainant and the accused are brothers and the disputes stems from a disagreement regarding property. Pathri police station in-charge Manoj Nautiyal said that the complainant had a dispute with his brother regarding a drain while the other side has also submitted a complaint. The two sides disagree regarding the drainage of water and the dispute escalated into a violent altercation. The matter is being investigated and necessary action will be taken by the police, he added.
