Women’s safety, traffic management and maintaining order top priorities, says new SSP

Pramendra Singh Dobal took charge as the new senior superintendent of police of Dehradun on Saturday. Addressing the media, he said that women’s safety, improving law and order and making the traffic system better in the city are among his top priorities.
Assuming charge when a series a murders have taken place in the district within 16 days, he said that the public should trust the police and assured that the police will ensure better law and order. He also stated that the police will continue to perform their duties honestly and without being influenced.
Regarding the Vikram Sharma murder case, Dobal said that the police have reached very close to the accused and a major disclosure will be made soon. Dobal also said that anyone trying to disturb social and communal harmony will not be spared. He reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy for such elements and said that strict legal action will be taken against those who try to create unrest in the city.
The SSP said that he will try to keep the morale of the police force high. He mentioned that the fear factor that has developed in Dehradun is a challenge and efforts will be made to deal with it effectively. He added that special attention will be given to women’s safety and traffic management. He said that the police force has been doing good work in the past and will continue to perform well in the future.
Dobal further said that in recent times, there have been demographic changes in Dehradun and across the State. The police regularly conduct verification drives and have achieved many successful results in the past. However, due to lack of attention at times, some criminal elements manage to stay in the city. He said this is a serious challenge for the police and he will try to make the verification drives more effective so that such individuals can be properly identified and action can be taken against them. During the Press conference, he said the police department will make strong and practical efforts in all these areas. He added that the morale of police personnel will be kept high and steps will be taken to improve their working efficiency. He assured that the police team will work together to maintain peace and safety in Dehradun.
