Youth festival to feature school, college & university bands: Arya

Sports and Youth Welfare minister Rekha Arya said that this year’s youth festival will take place from November 6 and will feature performances by bands from various schools, colleges and universities. She said this while chairing a meeting with officials on Friday to finalise the preparations.
Arya emphasised that the festival will showcase a blend of traditional cultural performances along with modern youth music and dance. To encourage participation from young people, bands from both private and government universities in the State, as well as esteemed schools in Dehradun, have been invited.
She said that registration for the festival is progressing quickly. The event will include food stalls, handmade textiles and various exhibits. Additional activities will feature drone kabaddi and the traditional game of Pitthu. There will also be competitions in folk dance, poetry writing, speech and folk songs, she said.
She added that, additionally, entertainment games, such as cock fighting, will be organised and the youth will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in a sports tech hackathon.
