14 new polling stations in 3 Assembly constituencies approved

The Uttarkashi district magistrate, Prashant Arya informed that the Election Commission of India has approved the proposals received regarding redrawing 544 polling stations included in three Assembly constituencies- Purola (SC), Yamunotri and Gangotri. “We proposed creation of
nine new polling stations in Purola (SC) Assembly Constituency and five new polling stations in Yamunotri Assembly constituency. With the approval, there are now a total of 196 polling stations in Purola (SC), 183 in Yamunotri and 179 in Gangotri Assembly constituencies. With these additions, the number of polling stations in Uttarkashi has gone up to 558,” he added.  


The DM further said that the re-designation of the polling stations is an important step toward making the election process more transparent, accessible and voter-friendly.
