With rivers, rivulets and streams-in spate following heavy rains-gushing into residential areas stretched on their banks, the chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the district magistrates to see to it that no new settlement or construction work of any kind was allowed at the sensitive sites already identified. Besides, government or private construction on the banks of rivers, rivulets and natural water sources would be completely banned. He asked the DMs to issue clear guidelines in this regard and regularly monitor their implementation. He also warned strict disciplinary action if these instructions were violated. He stressed that preventive measures be given priority to avoid disaster.
Among the senior officials present at the meeting were R K Sudhanshu, R Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagoli, A P Anshuman, Parag Madhukar Dhakate and Banshidhar Tiwari.
