5-day training on remote sensing for forest sustainability commences

The Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Land Management (CoE-SLM) of the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun, is organising a five- day International Training Programme on Remote Sensing for Forest Degradation Monitoring and Sustainability in Dehradun. It will conclude on December 12.  A number of ICFRE scientists is attending the training aside from the delegates.

A senior ICFRE scientist, Rajesh Sharma in his address emphasised the growing significance of remote sensing in tackling forest degradation and enhancing community well-being. Another senior scientist Manoj Kumar presented the course objectives and hands-on training modules, followed

by the formal release of the training manual. In her virtual inaugural address, DG, ICFRE, Kanchan Devi highlighted the critical role of Remote Sensing and GIS in supporting India’s Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) goals.
