PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

In a major action against the encroachers the district administration of Udham Singh Nagar demolished five illegal Mazars built on government land in Kundeshwari area of Kashipur on Thursday. The demolition of these illegal structures were done on the orders of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami who had categorically said that any encroachment on government land in the name of religion will not be tolerated.

A team of the district administration and police led by sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Abhay Pratap Singh arrived on the spot in the wee hours of Thursday and demolished these structures. These five Mazars were illegally built inside a mango orchard on government land. The district administration had served notices on these structures and when no documents were produced by the encroachers within the stipulated time period, the demolition action was initiated against them.

It is pertinent to mention here that CM Dhami has initiated a drive against illegally constructed Mazars in the State. As of now a total of 537 such illegal religious structures have been demolished in the State. This is part of the government’s efforts to tackle what it has referred to as land Jihad in different parts of the State.
