62-year-old tourist from Kolkata dies after raft overturns in Rishikesh

A 62-year-old tourist from Kolkata died after the raft he was in overturned during rafting in the Ganga river at Shivpuri in Rishikesh on Tuesday. The officials informed that the deceased named Shubhashish Burman who was a retired bank employee, had arrived in Rishikesh with his friends and family members including his wife and two daughters. He decided to go rafting along with eight other tourists on Tuesday but the raft overturned while carrying a total of nine tourists along with a guide and helper.
The officials informed that the trainer and the guide managed to rescue all the tourists from the river but the 62-year-old Burman was recovered in an unconscious state. He was taken to the nearby hospital where the doctor declared him to be brought dead. The adventure sports officer KS Negi also reached the hospital after receiving information about the death of a tourist. He expressed his concern about the incident and expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased. He also said that the authorities would soon conduct an inquiry in the matter.
