The Bharatiya Janata Party has accused the Congress of trying to exploit Ankita Bhandari’s murder politically. The BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that Ankita Bhandari is Uttarakhand’s daughter and the whole State is sad at her murder. The government has taken action at all levels to ensure justicve and the special investigation team is also doing its task diligently.
“The SIT is working to ensure justice but the Congress is attempting to create an atmosphere of doubt in the case. The question being raised by the opposition would have been valid if the government was trying to shield someone but the government issued strict orders immediately after the incident came to light and the accused were sent behind the bars within 24 hours. The opposition is busy trying to create confusion,” he said.
Terming Harish Rawat’s planned protest on the issue a political stunt, Bhatt said that such actions of Rawat are now aimed mainly at exerting pressure on other Congress leaders. The Congress leaders are competing to appear most active and are also working on a plan to settle scores with their rivals in the party, he said.
