Congress playing divisive politics to taint State’s image: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party has accused the Congress of playing divisive casteist politics regarding the alleged ‘purification’ ritual at Haldwani following Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge’s visit earlier this month.
The BJP State general secretary Kundan Parihar told media persons that the Congress is trying to disturb the atmosphere in the State. The opposition is trying to build a fake casteist animosity and taint the image of Uttarakhand. The BJP workers believe that the Congress may drag its own national president into its false narrative but the false allegations being levelled at the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt cannot be tolerated, Parihar said.
He said that the complaints against the BJP State president and the party by the Congress are completely false, baseless and are nothing more than a stunt to grab headlines in the media. The Congress attempting to taint Uttarakhand’s image for its petty politics is deplorable as there was no incident of casteist humiliation. “Having lost two elections consecutively, the Congress has reverted to its divisive agenda of 1937. There was never an atmosphere or caste discrimination or hatred in Uttarakhand.
However, the Congress is foreseeing its third loss in the coming Vidhan Sabha elections. This is why it is trying to divide the people into castes and dent the image of the State,” the BJP general secretary added.
