Development of villages possible only by investment: Dhami

NABARD to give loan of Rs 30,301 crore for development of agriculture & horticulture in U’khand

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that development of the rural areas can be done only by investment and providing credit facilities and it is important to fulfil the mission of reverse migration in the State. He was addressing the State credit seminar-2023-24 organised by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) here on Tuesday. Expressing happiness at NABARD preparing a credit plan of more than Rs 30,000 crore for development of agriculture, horticulture, small and medium industries in Uttarakhand this year, the CM said that it would prove effective in increasing the income of farmers and those engaged in horticulture and small scale industries. He said that proper monitoring and transparency of the credit system should be done so that the people do not face any problem in taking loans. Dhami said that banks play an important role in providing loans to the eligible and needy people and they should work in a mission mode for this. He said that every branch of the bank should work with a definite target for allocation of the NABARD credit scheme. The CM said that the State government is working relentlessly to strengthen the connectivity, infrastructure and other facilities in the rural areas and for this cooperation of the NABARD is always received. He said that last year NABARD approved 4515 projects of Rs 10,000 Crores. Dhami pointed out that special emphasis should be placed on increasing loan allocation in the three districts of Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Tehri. He said that apart from the banks the State government is also implementing schemes for providing subsidy, credit linked schemes and loan grant for the general public under the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Tourism self employment scheme, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya cooperative Kisan Kalyan Yojana and Mukhyamantri Swarojgar Yojana. He said that proper implementation of the schemes should be done while keeping in mind the different geographical conditions.

 It was informed in the seminar that NABARD has provided assistance and training to 5280 women self help groups under its Small entrepreneurship development programme and livelihood entrepreneurship development programmes. The NABARD has also helped in setting up 132 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPO) in the State.

 The agriculture minister Ganesh Joshi, cooperatives minister Dhan Singh Rawat, additional chief secretary (ACS) Anand Vardhan, officer in charge of NABARD Suman Kumar, regional director Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Lata Vishwanath, general manager Sunil Kaushik, Deputy General Manager (DGM) Nirmal Kumar, convenor of State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) Narendra Rawat, secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram, BVRC Purushottam and others were present on the occasion.

The CM inaugurated the State level focus paper -2023-24 prepared by NABARD on the occasion. The apex rural bank has estimated a credit probability of Rs 30301 crore for the state this year which is 6.22 per cent more than last year.
