Man nabbed with smack worth Rs 11 lakh

The Piran Kaliyar police station has arrested a drug peddler with 103.35 grammes of smack with an estimated value of Rs 11 lakh. The police said that the accused used to buy smack from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh and sell it at higher prices in the Kaliyar area near Roorkee. The accused has been involved in this business for a long time and has earned a lot of wealth from this illicit trade. Apart from smack, the police also recovered an electronic scale and about Rs 6,500 from the accused, said the superintendent of police (Rural) Swapna Kishore Singh.
Singh said that the police are undertaking a campaign across the district as per the State government’s target of making the State free of drug abuse by 2025. A team of Kaliyar police station managed to nab a man with 103.35 grammes of smack worth about Rs 11 lakh. The arrested accused has been identified as Saddam alias Gullu, a resident of Pathri area in the district. Singh said that the accused has been involved in drug trafficking for a long time. During interrogation the accused said that he had bought smack from a person named Raees. The accused will be presented in the court.
