Terming the relief measures undertaken by the State government in Joshimath as inadequate, Chakrata MLA and former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has said that resentment is there in the residents of the city. Singh visited different parts of the city to take stock of the situation of land subsidence in the city on Saturday. Singh said that the State government woke up from its slumber very late and had it taken appropriate measures on time, the current situation could have been averted. He demanded that the State government should undertake an assessment of the loss and provide adequate compensation to the affected families. Singh said that the administration should adopt a sensitive attitude and make proper arrangements for the affected families. The Congress leader said that food and shelter should be provided to the affected families and arrangements of stoves at night at public places should be made in view of the severe cold conditions. The president of the Chamoli district Congress committee Virendra Rawat Thokdar, state general secretary Rajendra Shah, Harikrishna Bhatt and other leaders accompanied Singh.
