Accuses State party in-charge Yadav of taking unilateral decisions which would weaken the party
The release of the list of members from Uttarakhand for the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has created major resentment in the State unit of the party. Sounding a virtual revolt against the in -charge of the Uttarakhand Congress, Devendra Yadav over the choice of the candidates, the former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has accused Yadav of weakening the party in the State. Interacting with the media persons, the former PCC president and current MLA from Chakrata said that the in-charge is taking unilateral decisions without consulting anyone. He warned that the decisions of the state in-charge can affect the prospects of the party in the parliamentary elections scheduled to be held next year and the elections of urban local bodies to be held this year.
Singh pointed out that it is very surprising that very senior leaders such as Tilak Raj Behad (MLA), Madan Bisht (MLA), Gopal Singh Rana (MLA), Khushal Singh Adhikari (MLA), Govind Singh Kunjwal (former speaker) along with former ministers Surendra Singh Negi and Dinesh Agarwal could not find a place in the list. Similarly Vijay Pal Sajwan, Jeet Ram and Raj Kumar too were not picked up in the list. Singh added that there is no representation from Uttarkashi and Champawat districts which is unfortunate. The Chakrata MLA added that the party high command would be informed about the feelings of the Congress workers.
The list that was released on Monday has 30 elected and 13 co-opted members for AICC. The PCC president Karan Mahara, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Yashpal Arya, former chief minister Harish Rawat, former PCC presidents Pritam Singh, Ganesh Godiyal, former MLA Qazi Nizamuddin, Prakash Joshi, MLAs Harish Dhami, Mamta Rakesh, Furkan Ahmed, Rajendra Bhandari, Vikram Singh Negi, Raj Bahadur (MLA), Sumit Hridayesh (MLA), Adesh Chauhan (MLA) Bhuwan Kapdi (MLA), Virendra Jati (MLA), Hira Singh Bisht, Harak Singh Rawat, Sumittar Bhullar figure in the list as elected members. Senior leader Surveer Singh Sajwan, Anupma Rawat, Manoj Rawat, Garima Dasauni are the co-opted members. Interestingly the Bharat Jodo Yatris from Uttarakhand Manish Khanduri, Vaibhav Valiya, Lalit Farswan, Rajpal Bisht and Ishita Sedha also figure in the list.
