Balwant Singh Bisht, a veteran of the Indo China war of 1962 and father of senior journalist Arjun Singh Bisht died on Saturday. He was 86 and is survived by two sons and one daughter. Bisht fought with the Chinese along with the legendary Jaswant Singh Rawat who was his companion in his unit. He was also held captive by the Chinese for a period of six months.
Chief minister Pushkar Sing Dhami expressed condolence on the demise of the veteran soldier. In a message he prayed for peace to the departed soul of Bisht. Former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, Health and Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat and director general of Information Banshidhar Tiwari also expressed grief at the demise of Bisht.
