Party plans a month long programme to protest Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from Lok Sabha
The Uttarakhand Congress unveiled a plan for registering its protest against disqualification of former president of Congress Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha in a series of Press conferences held in all the district headquarters on Friday. As per the plan all the frontal organisations, different cells and departments of State Congress would undertake a massive postcard campaign till April 15. In the campaign postcards would be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighting the problems of the people and atrocities on the women and unemployed in Uttarakhand.
Addressing the media persons at the headquarters of State Congress, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that on April 8, written complaints would be lodged against those leaders of BJP who have used indecent language for the Congress leaders and those indulging in hate speeches. The PCC president added that a mega rally would be organised by the State Congress between April 25 to 30. The objective of the rally is to save the democracy in the country, Mahara said. He averred that the democracy is being murdered in the country and a conspiracy is being hatched against those who are opposing the ruling party.
Mahara said that major portions of the speech of Rahul Gandhi given in parliament were removed from the proceedings of the house. Rahul had said that when the leaders of opposition speak, the mikes in the house get switched off. Mahara added that Rahul Gandhi met the speaker and also wrote a letter to him requesting that he should be allowed to speak but his request was denied. It proves that the BJP government is afraid of Rahul. Mahara said that when Rahul Gandhi asked questions about the relationship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and industrialist Gautam Adani in Lok Sabha, an old case was revived against Rahul Gandhi. A maximum sentence of two years is given in a defamation case and this sentence was given to Rahul Gandhi so that his membership from the Lok Sabha gets terminated. The PCC president also raised questions over the haste in which Rahul was asked to vacate his official residence.
He said that a campaign to malign Rahul Gandhi is being undertaken in the country by the BJP. Mahara said that BJP leaders have made offensive remarks on first PM Jawahar Lal Nehru, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and other leaders.
Launching an attack on the BJP leaders of Uttarakhand Mahara said that they are silent over the VIP involved in murder of Ankita Bhandari. He said that the Joshimath incident shows that those doing politics in the name of Ram are unable to save Adi Shankaracharya’s place.
