About two weeks are left for the reopening of the portals of Kedarnath temple in the Rudraprayag district. However, while the plains in Uttarakhand are experiencing warm and sunny weather, the weather continues to pose a challenge in ensuring proper arrangements for the pilgrimage to Kedarnath. Snowfall was experienced in Kedarnath on Monday. The snowfall being experienced in Kedarnath intermittently is posing problems for the labourers deployed for clearing the bridle path of snow.
It is pertinent to mention here that the portals of Kedarnath temple are slated to be reopened to the public on April 25. The authorities are working on various aspects of arrangements for the pilgrimage. The task of clearing snow from the bridle path to Kedarnath has also been going on for some days now. The authorities have deployed a number of labourers for this task. The workers had cleared snow from most of the path but there was fresh snowfall on Monday. Glaciers have been cut through at three to four locations on the bridle path to Kedarnath. Sub divisional magistrate Jitendra Verma said that the snow has been cleared from the bridle path to Kedarnath. However, recurring snowfall in the area is posing a challenge. Works are being undertaken in the area despite the inclement weather, he added.
