The meeting was attended by all the district’s electoral registration officers (EROs) and assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs).

The additional district magistrate and deputy district election officer, Mukta Mishra said that under the special intensive revision programme, the work of distributing notices and hearing has been going on since July 14.

A total of 63,727 notices are to be issued in the district, including 55,973 voters identified on the basis of various discrepancies, and 7,751 unmapped voters. Thirty-eight assistant electoral registration officers have been appointed for this. She said that during the hearing, voters would have to present the necessary documents (except Aadhar Card) from the 11 documents prescribed by the Election Commission.

Das said that as per the commission’s schedule, the photo electoral roll was published in writing at every polling station in the district’s three Assembly constituencies on July 14, based on the eligibility date of July 1. He informed that as per the chief electoral officer’s instructions, all three Assembly constituencies have been reviewed and the process of distributing notices through BLOs is continuing. “All EROs and AEROs have also fixed the dates for hearing claims and notices,” he said.

He further said that for the convenience of the voters, the necessary documents could also be submitted to the BLO, thus eliminating the need for them to come to the polling station. He clarified that if an eligible person’s name is left out of the voter list, they could apply in Form-6, Form-7 for a deceased or transferred voter, and Form-8 for amendment of an entry.
