Minister’s death condoled by Governor, CM & others

 Condolences poured in from different quarters on the demise of cabinet minister Chandan Ram Dass on Wednesday. Expressing grief the governor Lieutenant General (Retd), Gurmit Singh said that besides being a soft-spoken and popular public representative Dass was an able administrator. He said that the death of Dass is an irreparable loss to everyone in the State.

Terming the death as a big loss to the State, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that he dedicated his entire life for the welfare of poor, deprived and backward sections of the society.  On his Twitter handle the CM said “I am shocked by the news of the sudden demise of my senior colleague in the cabinet, Shri Chandan Ram Das. His death is an irreparable loss in the field of public service and politics. May God bless his soul and give strength to his family and supporters to bear the pain. Om Shanti:”

In his message the tourism and culture minister Satpal Maharaj said that Dass had a great personality and he was dedicated for the development of his society, area and Uttarakhand and his sudden demise is very painful. The health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the presence of Dass would always be felt in future. He said that Dass was ill for the last one year and the State government provided him with the best possible treatment. 

Paying homage to the departed soul, the  Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that a vacuum has been created in the local politics after the death of Chandan Ram Dass. He said that Dass was very simple and he started his political career from the Congress party by becoming chairman of the municipal council. Mahara said that born in a Dalit family Dass witnessed many ups and downs in his long political career. He said that Dass played a very important role in the development of the State. A condolence meeting was held in the office of the Uttarakhand Congress on Wednesday. The chairman of the disciplinary committee of PCC, Navprabhat presided over the meeting in which rich tributes were paid to Dass. He said that the death of Dass is a loss for the State.

 The leader of opposition in State assembly Yashpal Arya said that he is shocked by the sudden demise of Chandan Ram Dass. He said that his death is a major loss for the public service and politics.  Former PCC president, Pritam Singh, the Vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Mathura Dutt Joshi, Surya Kant Dhasmana and other leaders also expressed grief at the death of the minister.
