In latest Uttarakhand news, the State tourism and public works department minister Satpal Maharaj made on–ground inspection of the bridge over Malan river a part of which was washed out following flash flood and rain-induced landslides a few days back. He gave some directives to the officers concerned. He said that the diversion work on the river is now continuing on war footing and it would be completed by August 4. He reiterated the State government’s decision to move the High Court after firming up a full-fledged planning regarding channelisation of rivers. “This is the only way-out of the monsoon woes we battle every year in the State,” the minister said, adding that the rain fury this year has damaged many bridges across the State. He further said that he had earlier instructed the officials concerned to open alternative routes whenever roads get blocked due to rain-spurred landslides. He stressed on initiating restoration works immediately after roads are blocked in the wake of flooding and landslides
