The police arrested a 20-year-old man on charges of kidnapping a 15-year-old girl in Dehradun. The officials said that a man filed a complaint in Selaqui police station on September 5 that his teenage daughter was missing. He claimed that his daughter went somewhere from the house and did not come back.
The police filed a complaint under sections of kidnapping and started an investigation. Considering the sensitivity of the matter, the investigation was handed over to sub inspector Babita Rawat as per the directions of the senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar. A police team was formed at the police station level that checked the CCTV footage of the routes leading to the victim’s house besides finding the location of her mobile phone.
The police finally nabbed the victim from Selaqui’s Rajawala area along with the kidnapper after receiving a tip off from an informer. The accused has been identified as Anuj Khanduri (20) who resides in the Selaqui area. The police added sections 366A and 376 of the Indian Penal Code and section 5/6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) against him in the case, as per the officials. They said that Khanduri was produced before the court on Friday after which he was sent to jail.
