RTR to get tiger conservation foundation after cabinet nod

In latest news from Dehradun, with the State cabinet having approved the long-pending proposal of the formation of Rajaji Tiger Reserve Conservation Foundation (RTRCF), the required notification would be issued soon by the State government. Notably, though as per the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) guidelines, every tiger reserve would have its own Tiger Reserve Conservation Foundation the proposal of the same for Rajaji Tiger Reserve kept hanging fire for years since 2015, the year the tiger reserve came into being. Besides, there is a provision for the same in the Wild Life (Protection) Act. Once the Rajaji Tiger Conservation Foundation comes into being the Rajaji Tiger Reserve will receive revenue to the tune of Rs 2.5 to Rs 3 crore from tourism sector and this sum will be spent in the conservation efforts involving wild animals, including tigers. Along with this, skill development activities will be started for the people living in villages adjacent to the reserve. Furthermore, the foundation will receive funds under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme form corporate houses and companies for the cause of animal conservation.
