Two youngsters died and four sustained injuries in a collision of two scooties in Rishikesh late on Sunday night. The officials said that the police received information that two scooties had met with an accident near Haridwar Road in Rishikesh in front of Chitrakoot Akhand Ashram. A police team from Rishikesh police station reached the spot after getting the information and found six youngsters who were seriously injured.
The police took them to AIIMS-Rishikesh, where a young man and a woman died during the treatment, as per the officials. They said that the police informed the families of both deceased about the accident and handed over their bodies to them after completing the required procedure. Both deceased have been identified as Hrithik Kashyap (22) from Rishikesh and Aarti (20) from Pauri’s Kotdwar. The injured have been identified as Vishal (23), Ankit Singh (19), Tarun (18) and Daksh (16). All these youngsters belong to Dehradun, as per the officials.
Many have speculated that tripling is allegedly the cause of the accident as one or both scooty riders possibly lost control of the vehicle on the road late on Deepawali night. However, the officials said that the police are investigating the cause of the accident. They said that though the four youngsters are out of danger, they had sustained serious injuries and police will inquire them about the accident soon. The police will take further action in the case accordingly after the interrogation of the injured, added officials.
