In latest news from Doon, the special Assembly session may be convened before the global investors summit (GIS) slated in Dehradun on December 8 and 9. According to the State administration officers privy to the details, uniform civil code and horizontal reservation for the statehood activists in the State government jobs may be the principal agenda for the special session. This aside, some amendments involving the State’s investment policies may be passed ahead of the GIS. It is further learnt that as the monsoon session held in September was just postponed, convening the special session requires neither the Cabinet approval nor the assent of the Governor. Importantly, the select committee on the proposed 10 per cent horizontal reservation for the identified statehood activists has already submitted its report to the Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri. Besides, the final draft of the uniform civil code is all set to be presented to the State government.
