The Haridwar senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobhal suspended an assistant sub inspector (ASI) on charges of his alleged involvement in a double murder case. The ASI Chhunna Singh allegedly murdered a blind woman Mamta and her minor son Narendra for Rs 20 lakh, the officials said. According to them, the police found the body of the son in a drain in the Jhabreda area on Friday and the woman’s body was found in the Gangnahar area on Saturday.

The police found a visiting card of a tailor in the son’s pocket that helped them in his and his mother’s identification. It was revealed during the investigation that the mother and the son were living in Roshnabad village and had sold their house on February 8. The ASI along with his two accomplices Shahzaad and Vinod killed both in a moving car and dumped their bodies at two different locations in Jhabreda and Gangnahar areas to cause confusion during the police investigation in case police find the bodies, the officials said. They said that according to the information revealed during the interrogation, the accused took both victims to Har Ki Paidi to take a bath in the Ganga river and had dinner together. They set out for their village after it got dark. The ASI was driving the car and the other two accused allegedly carried out the murders of mother and son by choking them to death.

The police have sent the bodies for post mortem. The accused killed them for Rs 20 lakh that they allegedly got after selling their house. The officials stated that the accused thought that there were no close family members or relatives who would register their missing complaint and by the time police found the bodies, it will be difficult for them to connect the accused with the deceased. The police presented the three accused in court from where they were sent to jail. The police will take further action accordingly after getting the post mortem report, the officials added.
