The Uttarakhand in-charge of Congress Kumari Selja has said that the people of the State want a change and it will be reflected in the results of Lok Sabha elections.
In an informal interaction with the media-persons at the headquarters of the State Congress on Thursday, the Congress leader said that general secretary of Congress party Priyanka Gandhi will hold rallies at Ramnagar and Roorkee on April 13 in support of Congress candidates from Garhwal and Haridwar Lok Sabha constituencies. She added that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former president Rahul Gandhi will also address election meetings in Uttarakhand.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving different guarantees to the people in his speeches but is evading from showing his report card. The BJP has been ruling the country for the last 10 years so instead of giving guarantees for the future the PM must dwell on the achievements of his government.
She said that the PM should answer as to where the 20 crore jobs he had promised have gone. The PM had promised that the income of the farmers would be doubled. Now he should inform whether the income of farmers has doubled or not. Selja said that PM Modi is not talking about the guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP) the farmers of the country are demanding.
She said that it is unfortunate that the PM did not utter a single word on the Ankita Bhandari murder case in his speech in Rishikesh.
Taking a dig at the PM and BJP for engaging in politics of religion, Selja said that he is saying that religion will be at peril if Congress comes to power. The Congress party has remained in power on multiple occasions but religion was never under threat, she said.
Selja said that the democratic institutions are under threat under the BJP rule and the Modi government is using central agencies such as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) to harass political opponents.
