More women than men voted in Garhwal & Almora LS constituencies

Women voters in Garhwal and Almora Lok Sabha constituencies outnumbered their male counterparts in coming out to polling booths to exercise their franchise in the LS elections of 2024. The data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) shows that in Garhwal LS seat, 3,37,993 male and 3,79,833 female voters exercised their franchise in the just concluded polling. In Garhwal LS seat a total of 13,66,983 voters were registered and out of them 7,17,834 voters came out to vote. The voter turnout in the constituency was 52.42 per cent. Similarly in the Almora (SC) reserved constituency, 3,79,833 women voters voted in comparison to 3,05,516 male voters. Here 13,37,648 voters were registered and 48.82 per cent turnout was reported which is the lowest in the State.
The additional chief electoral officer (ACEO) VK Jogdande said that the revised voter turnout in the five LS seats in Uttarakhand stands at 57.24 per cent now. He said that 63.53 per cent turnout was reported in Haridwar LS constituency which is highest in the State. Here 12,93,363 voters exercised their franchise which included 6,90,238 Male and 6,03,080 female voters. In Nainital Udham Singh Nagar LS constituency 62.47 per cent turnout was reported. Here 12,59,180 voters voted which included 6,55,767 Male and 6,03,394 female voters. Jogdande said that 53.76 per cent turnout was reported in Tehri LS constituency. In this constituency 53.76 per cent turnout was reported. Here 4,27,234 male and 4,20,964 female voters exercised their franchise.
