In latest news from Uttarakhand, the portals of Gangotri Dham reopened for the devotees at 12.25 pm on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritya after six months’ winter closure. This marked the commencement of the Char Dham Yatra this year. Notably, the portals of three of the Char Dham opened while the portals of the fourth shrine-Badrinath-will reopen on May 12. According to the Hindu belief system, Akshaya Tritya is invested with a celestial significance that is supposed to bestow wealth and prosperity on the true devotees of the God.
Thousands of devotees thronged the shrine to witness the portal opening ceremony of the sacred shrine.
