Cong fields Nizamuddin from Manglaur, Butola from Badrinath

Battle lines are now drawn for the upcoming by elections in Badrinath and Manglaur Assemblies with Congress also declaring its candidates on Monday. The party announced the candidature of Qazi Nizamuddin from Manglaur while Lakhpat Butola will be its candidate from Badrinath. The BJP has already declared that former Badrinath MLA Rajendra Singh Bhandari and Avtar Singh Bhadana will be its candidates from Badrinath and Manglaur respectively. The voting in both these constituencies will be held on July 10.
Qazi will file his nomination papers on June 19 at the district magistrate’s office in Roshnabad, Haridwar while Butola will file his papers at the office of the Chamoli DM in Gopeshwar on June 21.
Congratulating Nizamuddin and Butola, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara exuded confidence that the Congress candidates will win from both the seats. He said that the party workers will work in coordination and dedication for the victory of Nizamuddin and Butola.
In an appeal to the voters of Badrinath Assembly, Mahara said that the BJP governments at the Centre and State are continuing to cheat the people of Uttarakhand. He said that the BJP has snatched the employment of the local youngsters by bringing Agnipath scheme.
He alleged that the Ankita Bhandari murder case had maligned the image of the State. He said that it is a matter of shame that justice still evades her parents. Mahara said that people of Joshimath are suffering from land subsidence crisis and their pain is known to the entire world but the State government has no plan for the rehabilitation of the people of Joshimath. The PCC president said that the Congress party will focus on local issues and burning issues of the State in the election campaign.
